Location & Getting Here
The Retreat at Ngorongoro is located in the Tloma area of Karatu, overlooking the scenic Ngorongoro Forest and close to Endoro Falls. Set in peaceful countryside rather than on the crater rim, the property offers space, privacy and an immersive connection to its natural surroundings.

Villa Inventory & Layouts
Our 30 standalone cottages are spread throughout the estate to offer privacy and a close connection to nature. The villa inventory includes:

Twin Villas
Each Twin Villa features one plush King bed and one Queen bed, making it a comfortable choice for friends or families travelling together.
Double Villas
Each Double Villa features one luxurious King bed, with a layout designed for couples and restful stays.
Classic Two-Bedroom Villa
This villa offers two separate double bedrooms, each with a King bed and a private en-suite WC and shower. A shared living area connects the bedrooms, while an oversized outdoor deck looks towards the forest landscape. Convertible sofas in the living area allow the villa to accommodate families of up to six guests.
Traditional Two-Bedroom Villa
The first bedroom features two Queen beds, while the second has two Single beds. Both bedrooms include private en-suite WCs and showers, offering a flexible arrangement for families and small groups.
Interconnected Family Villas
Three villa pairs within our standard Twin and Double Villa inventory are interconnected. Each villa has its own outside entrance, with a secure interleading door connecting the pair. This arrangement is especially convenient for families travelling with younger children.
Golf Cart Service
Our cottages are generously spaced across the grounds. An on-demand golf cart service is available at any time to transport guests comfortably to and from their villas.
Villa Amenities
- In-room appointments: A private dressing area, luggage rack, dressing table, spacious wardrobe, secure in-room safe, writing desk and tea and coffee making facilities.
- Wood-burning fireplace: A welcoming fireplace in the living space for chilly highland evenings.
- Bathroom facilities: A private WC, twin basins and a dual shower system with a rainwater shower head and a traditional rosette.
- Private outdoor deck: An expansive wooden deck furnished with a chaise lounge, table and chairs.
